Bug # 582 GM Memos appear on Pocket PC incorrectly. Memos from KnowBase Tab don't sync.
Memos from GM appear on HH with underscores. If Memo from GM has Book, Folder and Page excessive space appears between Book and Folder. Editing Memo in GM causes bounce back.
1. Create Memo in GM with *Book, Folder and Page.
2. Sync to HH, see how Memo appears.
3. Edit Memo in GM and sync. Memo changes back.
4. Memos from Knowledgebase Tab won't sync unless Purge is done each sync.

New features and enhancements in Build 502:

#1 New feature specifically for one customer. This is for GoldMine - Outlook/WinCE/Pocket PC users ONLY.
New feature allows customer to use Key: to Link appointments. Customer has unique data in Key 1 field in GM. Can Link appt by using the word Key: in the Note field and including the unique data.
NOTE: For one specific customer only.

#2 Act contact notes are now sorted by "Edit" date and NOT creation date. Before CL would sort thru the Contact Notes by the Creation Date. The problem is that these Notes can be edited in Act, the Date and Time for the Notes can be changed. This had the potential of synching the Notes in incorrect order if customers were editing this info. Now the notes are sorted in a more logical manner. If an old note has its Date changed then this note would sync in the correct order, depending on the Note date.

#3 Outlook/PocketPC/WinCE users can now see the "Link" info in various places for the Appts and ToDo's. Selection can be made on the new "Contact Links" Tab for Act and GoldMine users. Appt Link info is now available to be seen in the Appt Description, the traditional Notes area and also the Contacts field for Outlook. Any and a Combination may be used.

#5 Outlook/Pocket PC/WinCE users with GoldMine. Field mapping ability, check Field Mapping tab.

#6 Now when CL is configured to "No Mapping" on the Category field tab the data will sync to the Unfiled Category for Palm and the Category field will be blank for Outlook. If Customer wants all data to default to Business Category they can now select that choice in the Category Field Drop down list, it will appear under No Mapping.

#7 Now supporting 3 E-mail addresses between Act and Outlook. Configure Act as PIM and Outlook/PocketPC as HH. Add 3 e-mail addresses to either Act or Outlook. Sync. All three e-mail addresses are now synched.

#8 Birthdays are now supported between Act and Outlook.

#9 More History "Types" are supported.

#10 International Date format supported for Act Notes.

#11 Speed enhancement for Act users for both Palm type and Pocket PC devices.

Now, CompanionLink will add a Contact2 record if the GoldMine DDE system fails to do so.

GoldMine - #307 Additional Contact Field unchecks: On a new install, the choice to include additional contacts did not stay checked until after the initial setup. This has been fixed. Also starting with version 1.2, additional contacts will be the default value.

Fixed problem with Palm MemoPad notes that made it difficult or impossible to delete or update memos with all PIMs. The workaround is to set MemoPad syncto Transfer mode, delete memos, and then return the system to sync mode. This has been fixed.

Added direct read functions for GoldMine Calendar and InfoCenter text which is limited by GoldMine DDE to 220 bytes. Now Appointment notes, To-Do notes and memopad notes can be longer than 220 characters.

Added support for JTEL CellVic organizer.

Important change for categories in Outlook. This PIM supports multiple categories in the category field. However, this creates an ambiguous situation when the categories are synchronized to a handheld, and when an entry is moved from one category to another. In this case, or in the case when a changed record is synchronized with the PIM, the category field values will be replaced by the single category name from the PDA.

Changed Outlook to synchronize completed To-Do items, as well as uncompleted ones.

04/29/99 Misc Bug Fixes to 1.1a

Contact created on Palm marked private loses private setting when sync'd to GoldMine or ACT! Now Fixed.

Passwords for GoldMine were not being set from initial settings for DateBook and To-Do, and with Palm, Datebook goes first. This is now fixed.

CompanionLink now prompts user if Windows CE is picked but Windows CE services is not yet installed.

Selecting Add PC to Handheld automatially selects for Personal information to be included. In some cases, presonal was omitted because a selection was unavailable.

ACT! Public/Private field is now handled in a way that allows categories to be set using the field.

Still cannot duplicate problem with ACT! calls rolled from one date to another being duplicated. They roll cleanly on the programming system. Details appreciated.

04/17/99 Added log file for GoldMine path names.

Trying to investigate case where CompanionLink cannot find a given path name. Have tested UNC path names and they appear to work fine. So a new log file is now being created called GMWPATH.LOG. If there is a case where the path name is not being found correctly, this log file will help identify the problem.

03/14/99 Changes for GoldMine testing.

Responding to Joshua's report that To-Do items created on the Palm had OnTime filled in. Although this was not true, the investigation revealed that EndDate was not filled in on To Do items if end date is not set on Palm. In GoldMine there is always an end date. Changed so that End Date is always set. Also set flags for alarm flag, rsvp and status to match goldmine.

Put "(Handheld Note)" text on the next line, to avoid any conflicts with GoldSync.

Fixed date stamp on note to eliminate leading zero.

Of note: Three digit last name prefixes are no longer counted as last name. So from now on, "Tony Del Greco" will alphabetize under "G", and "Mary Ann Landers" will alphabetized under "L" and "Andy Di Natale" will still alphebetize under "D".

GoldMine Record Curtaining is now in effect when a record is marked for "Full" curtaining. Partial curtained records may be fully displayed and modified from the handheld.

01/01/98 ACT! Recurring Dates: Setting appointment for nth day of month is pure guesswork. Need to test this: 13th day every 3 months.

ACT! Recurring Dates: Nth day of month. ACT! has the ability to handle multiple dates of Nth day of month. For instance, an appointment on the 7th, 9th and 15th of each month. No other tool seems to handle this. Currently setting for first item, ignores others. To handle this, make multiple entries in ACT!, one for the 7th,one for the 9th, and one for the 15th.

In order to handle memos while preserving handheld memory, PIM notes must be marked with an asterisk before they are sent to the handheld. They must be marked in the following way:

GoldMine: Section, Topic or Keywords must contain an asterisk ACT!: My Record Note must contain an asterisk as first character. Outlook: Note must contain an asterisk as first character. Organizer: Title or Note must contain an asterisk as first character. Schedule+: No notepad structure is available

12/21/98 daVinci: Fixed problem with display phone selection where Work number was showing correctly, but Home and Fax were not.

daVinci: If only Fax phone was changed on an existing record on the PC, the change was not getting to the handheld. This has been fixed.

ACT! Added automatic logic to run ACTREG if the ACTOLE does not init. This should smooth installations in sites where ACT! is installed from another workstation.

12/17/98 Version 1.0m (Release candidate 2 for CL for Outlook and daVinci)

daVinci: Changed COM port screen added 12/10 to include setting for "One Step" or "Two Step" sync. This will help tech support people diagnose problems with CompanionLink and SmartSync independently.

daVinci Fixed "Sync Fail" message with initial sync with Outlook. The problem was related to duplicate records causing a new record to be flagged "Changed" instead of "Add". The workaround is to Hard Reset the daVinci, which clears the error.

Took out ability for GoldMine users to sync appointments for "All Users". An aspect of this capability is marked as a "Critical Item" by the software quality tester at GoldMine Software, and we need to cut a new release quickly for other purposes. The option will be restored if there is enough users that need it.

Added spaces to CompanionLink's list of phone delimiters. Other valid delimiters are parenthesis, dots, and dashes.

12/14/98 daVinci/Outlook: Fixed "Member not found" error associated with certain records in Outlook 98.

12/10/98 daVinci: Added a screen to set COM port and to control whether SmartSync is in the startup group. This means that CompanionLink is no longer dependent on correct setup of PIM for daVinci to work properly.

12/06/98 CL-Pro: Fixed problem when the last Special category was removed screen display scrambled.

CL-Pro/daVinci: Fixed problem when category was removed it was not removed on the handheld, so it came back next time you would go to category manager.

CL-Pro/daVinci: Removed case sensitivity in category names.

GoldMine 4.0: If category field was a contact2 field, category system was not working. Now fixed.

GoldMine 4.0: If customer field was a contact2 field, the value was not set. Now Fixed.

Palm: After a database was transferred the first time, changing a phone label setting in CompanionLink would not change the label on the Palm handheld, even if you did a Re-read. This should now be fixed (pending confirmation testing)

Outlook: Added logic to eliminate "Link: Unknown" on calendar items attendee is labeled as such.

12/05/98 Added on-button synchronization for daVinci. To run this process you must have SYNC.EXE dated 11/10/98 or higher and CompanionLink version 1.0k or higher. If both of these are true, the Process button will prompt you to hit SmartSync and the SmartSync program will launch CompanionLink automatically.

Completed programming for CompanionLink for Outlook which works only with the Royal daVinci. This is a special limited version to be available without charge to the customer.

12/04/98 Added support for translation of the Danish characters Ø and ø (O with a slash through it) which does not exist on the daVinci. These characters are mapped to the cent sign which look similar. For synchronization, the cent sign is translated to the Ø but only if you have your keyboard set to Danish (406)

GoldMine Filters now work when the filter expression includes fields from the Contact2 database.

11/25/98 Outlook days back and forward were reversed. This has been fixed. With prior versions, you can simply extend the days "back" to see more than 30 days of appointments.

Fixed a major problem with notes and ACT! introduced with 1.0i The speed modifications broke the system for recognising new notes on the handheld. So changes to a note from the handheld was put into ACT!, but above it were the unchanged notes and history that is already in the system. It would appear that none of our internal testers thought to test by adding a new note on the handheld. This is now fixed.

Revised processing for Outlook so that it is not optimized. This is to solve issues with international date formats. This impacts all WinCE syncs via Outlook, and also Outlook to Palm and Outlook to daVinci.

Now displays an error message when you try to exclude the Business category.

Investigated whether updated profile E-Mail Address was working with GoldMine. It is. Note: "Email Address" is not seen by GoldMine or CompanionLink for email purposes. Must have a dash.

CompanionLink Professional was not synchronizing Special Categories correctly when both the Primary and Special were ACT! databases and a record from the Special was changed on the handheld. The changed record would be put into the Primary file, not the Special file. This affects PRO only,
ACT! only, and only when ACT! is specified twice (system was using currently open file instead of checking to see if the file had changed)

Fixed problem with PRO and daVinci where items were not being put into the Business category when a category field is selected.

11/17/98 Version 1.0i

Fixed a timing problem with GoldMine database selection.

We now have 42 files in our Open Files list, which has caused the system to fail sometimes when switching directories. This has been fixed. Workaround for prior versions is to eliminate unneeded entries in the open files list.

Fixed a problem with new Palm Phone field mapping to include E-Mail Address for GoldMine.

11/16/98 Some improvements and enhancements

Category Manager screen in Professional version now shows excluded categories, as well as included and special. This shoulc clarify things.

Initial installation wizard has a screen for "Personal Category" when using Palm or daVinci organizer.

Palm phone fields are now mapped more clearly for ACT! and GoldMine, allowing both the palm label and the field name to be set on one screen.

Outlook to Palm/daVinci/RGEX now supports a choice of whether to use Home, Business or Mailing address.

Fixed problem with internal lookup that prevented calendar and to-do options to contain a quote. This affected Outlook to any device, and any PIM to WinCE Via Outlook.

ACT! Notepads are now read in advance, to prevent the very slow SetContactScope() function in the ACT! API. This will speed the first sync in some databases by about 4 times.

Took out message for more than one user ID in daVinci.

Made some changes to the way phone fields are processed in the different drivers. If a phone field does not exist from a source or destination file, it is not set with a dash "-". This is the signal in the system to retain the prior value, even when an update is requested. It may take some time for all drivers to be updated to ignore
dash fields.

Fixed problems with GoldMine notes mismatching on some GM4 databases. Had to do with DBT block size.

In ACT! and GoldMine when creating a new linked appointment, we found and fixed a problem in where the "link" keyword was case sensitive. This problem was introduced with changes from 11/5/98. Now fixed.

Fixed problem when Outlook is a source application where Datebook and To-Do notes were misinterpreting "At" and splitting the note. Problem was introduced with 10/20 addition for WinCE linked contacts.

Found a problem with GoldMine Calendar user. Could be the cause of field reports of some users getting data from other users calendar.

Added timer logic for daVinci and RGEX to smooth processing.

Investigating: Two GoldMine users report filters not working. Suspect it is involved with the filter expression itself. Waiting for one or the other to respond to what the dBASEn expression is.

Investigating: One GoldMine WinCE site reports "random" blanking of Company name field, and Key 1-4 fields, after notepad edit on handheld.Waiting for DAT file to check a wild theory based on account numbers.

Investigating: Reports of GPF in Table20 or in Kernel32 in address book. This is associated with ACT! 3.0 or 4.0, and with both versions of Palm Desktop. Current theory is that Purge might clear the problem. Action to be taken will be restructuring the ACT! database read operation which is too slow anyway. Not in this release, probably next.

Added "Done" screen to clarify that filters need to be set and also category settings.

Added "Purge and Reload" dialog screen. This screen is not referenced if you select "Add from handheld" mode.

ACT! Calendar days Forward, days Back were reversed, now fixed.

GoldMine To-Do items did not have forward back selection, now they do.

10/26/98 Still Version 1.0e, not for general release

Responding to a particular database (Don) finally found and fixed the 'Cannot Parse "' error with Windows CE. It had to do with records with a First name, no last, company or phone number. This is now fixed.

A country id of less than 2 characters is now ignored.

Phone numbers in ACT! are cleaned differently, so they may be entered in spite of ACT! default phone formatting standards.

Evaluation now displays countdown clock. Version number is displayed on front screen.

Fixed problem with Express where Status/ID setting for categories was being ignored.

PalmPilot Desktop now closed when categories are changed.

GoldMine DateBook items are now preceded by their type as was the case with DSPROGM. Adding a new type followed by an end-paren now should work.

Took "None" out of Email field in outlook in an attempt to fix 'Cannot parse "' message.

10/21/98 Version 1.0d

An intermittent problem with Windows NT 4.0 has been resolved. The problem kept registry settings from being written. There were two symptoms of this. 1) On the Upgrade/Register page the computer ID was blank. And 2) when attempting to run with a Palm organizer, Hotsync failed to launch CompanionLink properly. This has been
fixed.

10/20/98 Split menu option to Reread to Reread Handheld or Reread PC Data. Hopefully this will help keep people from syncing the wrong way and overwriting their data.

Fixed a problem with CE linking that caused new calendar items to duplicate when they synced from handheld.

Added Link: to WinCE notes. From now on, linked appointments can be created by making a note with the word Link and the persons name.

The link mechanism for ACT! was case sensitive, now ignores letter case.

10/19/98 Version 1.0c First release version

Most work here is on the unreleased RG/ex code. Some changes to do with case sensitivity. From now on, CompanionLink is going to be case insensitive, so a change from lower to upper case is not considered a "change" to be synchronized.

Added some logic for user fields so that synchronizing a blank field will not overwrite data in GoldMine and ACT!.

Found an unusual anomoly. If you select ACT! to have history only (no notes) in your Palm Address book, and on the palm you add a new note. It adds to ACT!, but does not clean off palm. Should do so. Also, set the defaults so that Notes
were selected.

Fixed error with MEMBER NOT FOUND message with ACT! 3.0.8.

10/16/98 Version 1.0b (Beta)

Worked with problem of shifting from a competing product to CompanionLink. Cleaned up some code with Outlook that kept quicksync from working in some cases.

Fixed GoldMine history to show N Newest entries, instead of N Oldest ones.

Added new completion codes. Now a slash / or back slash \ may be used, in addition to the "large dot". These characters are easier to make on Windows CE machines.

Cleaned up some code that handled new items on the handheld that are outside the date/time settings of the desktop...

Simplified initial method screen to eliminate "No transfer" option. Gina-Note new help ID 0x200e0

Fixed problem with GoldMine 2nd Phone number setting not getting picked up in sync.

Fixed problem on new installs where Date and Todo showed "No Transfer" when it really was set.

Looked into problem where entire database is synced, then a filter is selected. CompanionLink should at this point clean out non-filtered records from handheld. It has not been doing this. But seems to be better behaved now... Keep an eye on this.

Limited note lenght for Palm Address book. If length is exceeded causes a GPF in hotsync. If this happens, use must delete ADDRESS.DAT file, shorten the number of notes, and then re-sync. Executables after this date will not have this problem.

Fixed a number of issues having to do with catman and GoldMine. otable, new To-Do items from the handheld were not being synced to GoldMine, now fixed.

Got a customer report that in ACT, empty notes were written to the Palm Address book. Also a report that notes count was wrong. Both could be a factor of non-notes that ACT! stores in the notes file. Changed counter to count only textual notes, and change system to ignore note entries with no text. Hopefully this will solve this problem.
